Frequently asked questions

This service is aimed at children aged 8–10, typically those in Year 4 or Year 5. It supports pupils at any stage of their 11+ preparation, from building strong creative writing foundations to refining and polishing skills closer to the exam. The detailed, personalised feedback makes it valuable both for early development and for children preparing more intensively as the exam approaches.

Each Task is designed as a two-stage learning process. After the first submission, your child receives detailed marking and personalised feedback, highlighting strengths as well as specific areas for improvement. The second iteration gives your child the opportunity to apply this feedback in practice, helping them turn advice into real progress. We recommend completing the second attempt under timed conditions (30 minutes) so that your child builds confidence writing to time and becomes familiar with exam-style expectations. A Task is considered fully complete only once both iterations have been submitted and assessed, ensuring that learning, improvement and exam readiness are all fully supported.

Your role has two main parts. First, the practical side: Select and pay for the Tasks. Scan or photograph your child’s responses and upload them for each Task on your dashboard. Second, supporting your child’s learning: When you receive the feedback report for each Task, you can help your child understand what they did well and where they can improve. The reports are designed to be as child-friendly as possible, so many children will be able to understand most of the feedback on their own—but your guidance can help reinforce and clarify key points. You may also want to help your child keep an eye on timings. This is particularly pertinent for the second iteration, where we are aiming for completion of the Task in 30 minutes. However, children are often good at timing themselves (and being honest about it!).

Any lined paper is fine. The main point is to write clearly and legibly – not just so that it’s easy for us to read the response, but also because this is relevant for the ‘Presentation’ component of the assessment. We do ask that Task ID and Iteration number are written clearly, somewhere at the top of the first page (iteration ‘1’ or ‘2’ to indicate whether it’s the first or second attempt at the Task).

You should receive emails from us whenever we confirm a purchase you make, whenever we’ve assessed a Task and a report is ready for you to download from your dashboard,  or whenever we reply to a Support email via our ‘Contact Us’ web form.
